Substance Use Research Studies and Programs

Counseling for Opioid Use

If you have a history of opioid use, we provide free counseling and support:
  • Minds and Mentors Program (MiMP)
  • Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MI + CBT)
  • Virtual Reality for Behavioral Health (VR Study)

Community Re-Entry and Employment

  • If you want assistance and support re-entering your community, gaining employment, and sustaining your recovery: Recovery Ecosystem for Substance use prevention and Treatment through community Reintegration and Employment support for Alabamians (RESTORE)

Certification as a Certified Recovery Support Specialist

  • ​If you want to give back to others in recovery by serving as a behavioral health paraprofessional, earning college credit and gaining certification: Minds and Mentors Paraprofessional Training Program (MiMP-TP) . This program is for both those in recovery and non-recovery who have been impacted by drug use.

RESTORE Alabama

Infrastructure and programmatic activities of RESTORE Alabama are supported by $500, 000 grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission and in collaboration with The Will Bright Foundation (Grant Number: IS-20237). 

Minds and Mentors Program

​All research and associated activities of the Minds and Mentors Program are supported by $2.7 Million grant funding from the National Institutes of Health – National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (Grant Numbers: 1R61AT010802-01 and 4R33AT010802-02).

MiMP-TP

All  programmatic and associated activities of the MiMP-TP are supported by $2.1 Million grant funding from the  Health Resources and Services Administration (Grant Number: 1 T26HP39458-01-00).

MiMP-TP II

All  programmatic and associated activities of the MiMP-TP II are supported by $2.1 Million grant funding from the  Health Resources and Services Administration (Grant Number: M01HP42451-01-00).
